Meeting
A conversation worth having
The client–advisor collaborative.
Good portfolio decisions begin with listening. Our approach brings clients’ knowledge of their own circumstances together with advanced portfolio methods and professional investment management.
At this time, in-person group meetings are offered only in Arkansas. Meetings begin in March 2027.
Why we see it differently
A meeting that stayed with me.
Years ago, I attended a presentation by an advisory firm. There were roughly 30 people in the room and two advisers at the front, walking through several investment products.
What struck me wasn’t the products themselves. It was the knowledge in the room. Attendees asked thoughtful questions and described circumstances, priorities, and experiences that differed from one another. Many clearly had a strong understanding of what mattered to them.
As I listened, I felt a disconnect. The presentation was organized around the products being discussed, while the questions from the audience were often about their individual needs. I left wondering what the conversation might have been like if those needs had shaped the discussion from the beginning.
That experience helped clarify the relationship I wanted 5thN Financial to build: one in which clients bring real knowledge of their own lives, the adviser brings research and portfolio-management experience, and the investment direction is developed through conversation rather than a sales presentation.
— Robert Fithen, PhD, CEO, 5thN Financial
Clients know their circumstances. We know our portfolio methods. The value of the relationship comes from putting that knowledge to work together.
How we approach the discussion
Listening first. Analysis next. Decisions together.
Start with the people
Different people can have different goals, constraints, levels of experience, and ideas about risk. Those distinctions deserve attention before a portfolio is designed.
Discuss the trade-offs
We explain possible approaches and their limitations. Our proprietary Expanded Portfolio Theory (EPT) framework and asset model help inform our portfolio analysis; no method eliminates investment risk.
Leave room to reconsider
Clients participate in setting their investment objectives and guidelines, and may ask to revisit them over time. Actual portfolio-management authority is governed by the advisory agreement.
Meet with us as a group
Bring the questions. We’ll bring the conversation.
We are accepting requests now for group meetings in Arkansas only, beginning in March 2027. If you know a group that would benefit from discussing investment management, you are welcome to request a presentation or facilitated discussion with 5thN Financial. This might be a group of friends, a professional or community organization, or representatives of an institution or endowment. We can come to your location in Arkansas for an in-person meeting, subject to scheduling and practical travel arrangements.
This is an opportunity to observe how we think about portfolio management and how we work with clients—not a product-sales presentation. We can discuss the role of the client in shaping portfolio objectives, diversification, liquidity, capital-preservation goals, market participation, investment risk, and the trade-offs involved in different approaches. Just as importantly, a gathering can be a chance to meet new people and learn from their experiences and questions, as well as from the adviser in the room. You are welcome to share your perspective or simply listen; an open exchange is the point of the gathering.
If your group would like a detailed presentation of how we construct and manage portfolios, including the role of our EPT methodology and asset model, please tell us. That presentation is entirely optional—the meeting can simply be a discussion shaped by the group’s interests. We’ll come prepared to explain our portfolio-construction process if that topic arises naturally, while respecting proprietary information and keeping the discussion educational rather than making individualized recommendations.
The discussion is intended for general education and an introduction to our approach. There is no portfolio-size requirement to attend. 5thN Financial generally prefers portfolios of $1 million or more in assets to be managed. This level provides additional flexibility in establishing, maintaining, and adjusting diversified portfolios within our investment approach. Smaller accounts may be considered individually. Participants need not disclose personal financial details in the group. We will not make individual portfolio recommendations at the meeting; personalized advice requires a separate client-specific process, as appropriate.
Organize a conversation
Help bring a group together.
If you’d like to help organize or host a meeting in Arkansas, we’d welcome a request. You don’t need to have every detail settled before getting in touch. Here’s how the process is intended to work:
- Tell us what you have in mind. Use the linked Google Form below to describe your group, a proposed location (including its street address and meeting-room details), possible dates, subjects of interest, and approximately how many people may attend. You can also indicate whether you’d prefer an open discussion or a more detailed presentation of our portfolio-construction process; either choice is welcome. You may include possible attendee names only if those people have agreed to share their names; otherwise an estimated headcount is fine.
- We’ll discuss the arrangements. We’ll review the request, confirm whether an in-person visit is feasible, and coordinate the venue and schedule with you. We ask for an initial indication of interest from at least 10 people, but we understand that some may have to cancel.
- We’ll make signup easy. Once we agree to hold a meeting, 5thN Financial will create a separate online attendee signup form, post it on our website, and send you the signup link to share. Interested participants can then register directly with us.
The goal is a relaxed, thoughtful conversation where people can freely express their views, ask questions, and see how our collaborative process works. The group-meeting invitation is not an offer of payment or other compensation for referrals or endorsements; any such arrangement would be subject to a separate compliance review. Neither requesting nor attending a meeting obligates anyone to become a client. Meeting requests and dates remain subject to confirmation by 5thN Financial.
The request form opens in a new tab on Google Forms. There is no obligation to become a client, and submitting a request does not confirm a meeting date.
Please do not submit Social Security numbers, account numbers, passwords, or sensitive financial information. Group meetings are educational and do not provide individualized investment advice. In-person group meetings are currently offered only in Arkansas. Meetings and any discussions of advisory services are subject to applicable state registration requirements. Requesting or attending a meeting does not establish an advisory relationship, guarantee a particular meeting date, or require any purchase or investment. Any location-related arrangements are subject to agreement in advance. See our Privacy and Disclosures pages.
